The Todd Information Systems Department is integral to assuring that the Production areas have the most
accurate data possible to assist them in making timely decisions in order to meet our customers' needs.
|
With Todd employees providing services to customers in Bremerton, Everett, and Seattle, having the ability to track employee
activity real-time is an important aspect of ensuring that our tasks are completed on-time and within budget. The Todd in-house
developed Labor Tracking application is "real-time" and supports all locations providing an efficient, standardized way for employees to input their
labor activities using state-of-the-art wireless handheld devices. One important feature of the Labor Tracking application
is the ability to report on the current activities of any employee.
|
|
This reporting capability is invaluable for
identifying processes that need to be streamlined and also for ensuring that our work estimates vs. actual are accurate.
Since 2002, over 2.5 million labor transactions have been successfully processed.
The Labor Tracking application uploads all valid transaction records daily into our ERP application, thereby enabling
Project and Production managers to track work progress and budget variance. Historical reporting capabilities are provided
by our data warehouse and our ERP application.
Also utilizing our wireless infrastructure is the Lean Cell Analysis system which utilizes Pocket PCs to monitor specific
tasks within a single work order. Real-time analysis of budget-to-actual work time reports are available using the Pocket
PC touch screen capabilities.
Our network infrastructure is built on a fiber optic network in our 46 acre Seattle yard, with multiple T-1 lines connecting
the Seattle facility to the Bremerton and Everett locations.
|
Finally, and most importantly, the Information Systems Department is staffed by programmers and systems analysts
skilled both in developing new applications and adding functionality
to existing applications. Our network administrators and desktop support personnel have extensive experience in their
respective areas of responsbility. Our Information Systems staff attend external training classes to stay
abreast of technology changes and support our customers by incorporating new technologies and capabilities
into our existing IT infrastructure. Enabling our customers to meet their needs in the most effective manner
possible through the use of information technology is the primary focus of the Information Systems Department.
