A ship is like a small city, self-sufficient and requiring at least some capability to support the
embarked community's needs in virtually every phase of life: sleeping and eating spaces, glitzy fashionable
interiors, entertainment facilities, hospitals, big engines, motors, and cranes, heavy machinery, and
mechanical and electrical systems of all sorts....
So naturally Todd has fabrication and repair capabilities to address almost any need. We are a multi-talented
organization with a strong, broad base in many different kinds of fabrication and repair. We have many
different talents among our skilled people as well as the manufacturing centers and equipment necessary to perform a wide
variety of projects.
Manufacture of New Propulsion Shaft Coupling for M/V LeConte

We recently upgraded our Machine Shop machining capability with the purchase and installation of a
very large shafting lathe. This machine will handle shafting up to 70 feet in length and 90 tons in weight.
Todd also has ABS-approved propulsion shaft welding procedures, and trained machine operators, to
accomplish almost any propulsion shaft repair, giving our customers quick turnaround and keeping their vessels in service.

Large Fabrication:
It is no surprise Todd handles large fabrications - that is what shipbuilding is all about. Challenging
the routine reveals that large steel fabrications can be many kinds of products other than ships. Examples
of large assemblies include:
- "Cutting Edge" assemblies for the new Tacoma Narrows suspension bridge caissons.
- Retractable passenger loading platforms for the Seattle monorail stations.
- Floating Diesel-electric power plants.
- Dam Gates

We build all sorts of smaller fabrications as well. Duct work, custom metal furniture,
general sheet

Repair Operations:
Our machinery repair facility routinely handles nearly any size job from repairing the largest ship
propulsion shafts to refurbishment of all kinds of mechanical equipment. We overhaul valves, heat
exchangers, mill fabrications, line bore, plane, and buildup nearly every kind of major end item.

If it doesn't move, paint it:
Those large fabrications require proper surface preparation and coating to safeguard your investment. Todd
has the largest fully enclosed blast and coating facility on the West Coast. We can blast and paint
a forty-foot cube inside our facility! Coatings applied out of the weather, in dry, heated environments
just have to last longer and serve you better.
